Saturday morning is busier with groomsmen fly-ins and the now-standard “we forgot the rings” double-back to a Manhattan hotel. Prom season for us is mid-April through mid-June, peaking the Saturday after Memorial Day. Where Uber Black falls short on the EWR pickup:

Uber Black requires you to walk to the rideshare staging area at each terminal (between P3 and P4 of the parking deck for B, third level of P2 for C, depending on the construction schedule). Distance from Terminal C baggage claim to the Uber pickup at Newark Liberty is about 850 feet plus an elevator. With three suitcases and a stroller after a 12-hour Cathay Pacific flight, that walk is the difference between a smooth arrival and an angry one. The hours when you most need a reliable ride out of EWR are the hours Uber surge prices hardest: Sunday evening 7 to 10 PM when business travel waves land, weekday mornings 6 to 9 AM, snow days, any MetLife concert night.
